The Blues Brothers combined traditional blues with infectious STAX soul style & a hard-hitting horn section in an electric high-energy revue. While filming Animal House, John Belushi saw bluesman Curtis Salgado & fell in love with the blues. Meanwhile Dan Aykroyd on SNL rented an underground blues bar to hang with cast & crew after-hours. Soon the duo made their bluesy black suit-and tie debut on Saturday Night Live with Slim Harpo’s “I’m A King Bee”. The band released their #1 debut Briefcase Full of Blues in 1978. In 1980 The Blues Brothers ascended to a household name with a huge hit movie featuring cameos from Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, John Lee Hooker, Cab Calloway & James Brown. A massive tour followed, with a legendary finale at the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles.
