With their unique blend of heavy rock, deep blues and R&B, Humble Pie exploded into popularity with hits like "30 Days in the Hole", "I Don't Need No Doctor" & a soulful cover the Ike & Tina Turner classic "Black Coffee". The rollicking British rock n roll outfit was formed by Steve Marriott in Essex, England in 1969, recruiting Peter Frampton for vocals and guitar, Greg Ridley for bass, and 17 year old Jerry Shirley on drums -- a position he maintains to this day. 1971's Performance Rockin' The Fillmore reached #21 on Billboard, and shortly after, Frampton left to pursue a solo career. Without the versatile guitarist, Humble Pie dropped the huge hit album "Smokin'" in 1972, with hits like "Road Runner", "Hot N' Nasty", & the always popular "30 Days in the Hole". It peaked at #6 on the Billboard chart. While Steve Marriott tragically died in a house fire in 1991, the group carried on in his memory, thrilling audiences across the globe with a bluesy blend of soulful melody & driving hard rock.
