Sam Phillips first opened Memphis Recording Service studio in 1950 at 706 Union Ave in Memphis, Tennessee. When Ike Turner recorded his hit song Rocket 88 the following year, Phillips was able to open his own record label in Memphis in February 1952 called Sun Records.

Phillips' former high school classmate John Gale Parker Jr. designed the original Sun Records logo, and the label/studio began releasing music from area artists. Shortly, several musicians would be brought or wander into Sun Records label company, including Howlin' Wolf, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis & Carl Perkins, and finally, a young Elvis.

It was Elvis' off-the-cuff cover of Arthur Crudup's "That's All Right (Mama)" that famously intertwined Sun Records Studio & Elvis Presley for all time; and cemented Sun Record Studio's reputation as the record where Rock n Roll was Born.

This is Bluescentric's official Sun Records Label Company store. Discover fun & unique Sun Records t-shirts for men, women, and children.
