Wanting to capture the incredible talent welling up from the Memphis & Mississippi area, Sam Phillips founded Sun Records in 1952. The small studio and office opened up on Union Ave. in Memphis, and quickly signed & began releasing several talented acts, including Ike Turner and Howlin' Wolf...

In 1953, an eighteen year old Memphis truck driver by the name of Elvis Presley wandered into Sun, 'to record a song for his mother'. A few months later, when they called Elvis back to audition, in between recordings, he casually played an Arthur Crudup song, That's All Right Mama. Phillips pushed 'record' and the rest was super-stardom history.

Phillips also signed Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Johnny Cash in the same period, cementing Sun Records' legacy as an innovator of Blues, Rockabilly and Rock n Roll all at once. Phillips sold Sun Records to Mercury Records in 1969, and the label continues to produce influential music to this day! The Sun Studio building is now a Memphis tourist attraction, and on the National Register of Historic Places.

This store carries exclusive & official Sun Records t-shirts, mugs, jackets, music, vinyl records and turntable slip mats, and more gifts for Rockabilly and rock n roll lovers.

We also carry apparel, music and merchandise from former Sun Records artists, including Howlin' Wolf, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins.
