Official Son House T-Shirt. This design reads Son House / Preaching the Blues, and features the southern bow tie that he famously wore.

In so many ways, Son House was the most living embodiment of the blues. Born in the rural Mississippi Delta, House learned to play guitar at Dockery Farm under the great Charley Patton. House was both a preacher and a bluesman -- his life and music were torn between the dichotomy of religion and "the devil's music".

He kicked Robert Johnson off a stage for playing terribly, then when Johnson came back the next year outplaying everyone, Son bestowed the legend that Johnson sold his sold to the devil to play like that. Decades after Son House's music was forgotten, he was rediscovered thanks to the folk revival of the 1960s, and had a hugely successful second act, touring the world and achieving worldwide notoriety, retiring comfortably as a founding father of blues music.

A legendary Delta blues guitarist, Son House's music possessed a raw, impassioned playing style that echoed the hardships of his life in the Delta. His haunting vocals and intense slide guitar techniques defined the essence of early blues, influencing generations of musicians.
