Bob Dylan and The Band - The Basement Tapes (New, 2-LP, Gatefold, UK Import)

This is a new 2-LP vinyl record pressing of Bob Dylan and The Band's The Basement Tapes, on special import from the U.K.

Originally released June 26, 1975, this was a landmark album for both Dylan and The Band -- despite the material taking the better part of a decade to finally be officially released.

The recordings from this session came shortly after Dylan's massively successful Blonde on Blonde, after Dylan suffered a serious motorcycle accident, taking him out of public life at the height of his popularity at the time.

Many tracks were famously formed from long days gathering in the basement of "Big Pink" -- the rented pink house outside of Woodstock, New York where The Band had moved to be near Dylan while he recovered.

For months, the group would freely play music in the basement. "We were doing seven, eight, ten, sometimes fifteen songs a day," lamented Garth Hudson.

The memorable album cover image (and gatefold) was taken by Reid Miles in the basement of a YMCA in L.A. Dylan and The Band are dressed in various amusing garbs and trinkets, weaved through a circus sideshow.
