The reason many reggae artists have dreadlocks is rooted in a bible verse, Leviticus 21:5, which says, "They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in the flesh."

Butterfield honed his musical skills growing up in Chicago & learning from the greats like Muddy Waters before forming his own band -- which included guitarist Mike Bloomfield and a young Elvin Bishop. Butterfield sang and played blues harmonica.

After a landmark performance at 1965's Newport Folk Festival (including the landmark moment where Bob Dylan "went electric") the group recorded their eponymous first album, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, a raw, brazen and powerful mix of electric Chicago style blues & rock & roll.

The album features rocking originals, and rolling covers of Elmore James, Little Walter, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon and more.
