Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii was a 1972 movie featuring the band playing, sans audience, in the ancient Pompeii Amphitheatre in Italy. Some-2000 years ago, Pompeii and its inhabitants were nearly perfectly & gruesomely preserved by the ash of a nearby erupting volcano. 

Director Adrian Maben conceived and filmed the idea, and the concert movie experience was released to popular reception worldwide.

The film also includes footage from when the band was recording what would soon become Dark Side of the Moon at Abbey Rd Studios.
