In the late 1960s, Stax Records reinvented itself and changed its logo to something more fitting of the label's social consciousness and reign over popular music -- the Snapping Fingers.

From its Memphis home on McLemore Ave, Stax turned out hit after infectious Soul hit by some of the biggest names of the era, including Johnnie Taylor, the Staple Singers, Rufus Thomas, and superstar Isaac Hayes. Stax spearheaded social movements such as Wattstax, and defined the culture of an era with impressions of The Blues, black Southern Gospel, Soul Music.
