Blues guitarist John Lee Hooker was known worldwide for his droning, electric guitar-given songs with hits like "Boom Boom" and "One Bourbon One Scotch One Beer".

Hooker was born in (about) 1917 in the extremely tiny, rural town of Tutwiler, Mississippi -- coincidentally the very same town where W.C. Handy first heard & documented a man singing what he called "the blues" in 1903. First gaining notoriety for his music while working at a steel mill in Detroit. Hooker's career exploded after he released the song "Boogie Chillen'" in 1949, which became a smash hit. 

John Lee Hooker was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1980, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991. He won four Grammy Awards in the 1990s, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000, and in 1997, he was awarded his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
