Slim Harpo's 1957 classic "King Bee" gave Excello, founded that year, it's trademark swamp blues sound and inspired a thousand artists, from Muddy Waters to The Rolling Stones.
That swampy rhythm and blues that came out of Nashville-based Excello Records would be carried on by immortal greats like Lonnie Brooks, Lazy Lester and Lightnin' Slim. Even MLK recorded at Excello. But by 1975, Excello could no longer compete, and closed it's doors forever.
