Stax Records Soul Merch

Soulsville U.S.A.

Bluescentric carries officially licensed Stax Records merchandise for soul music fans.

Founded in Memphis, Tennessee in 1957 by Jim Stewart and Estelle Axton, Stax Records came at the right place and time to capture lightning in a bottle with the white hot soul that was boiling in the Mississippi Delta area. The label moved into an old movie theater at 926 E. McLemore Ave. Rufus Thomas was one of the first hitmakers, followed by his daughter, Carla Thomas. The hits just kept flowing for Stax with the discovery of Otis Redding, Isaac Hayes, Sam & Dave, The Bar-Kays, David Porter, and many more. The young neighborhood house band would become household names too, like Booker T., The Memphis Horns’ Wayne Jackson and Andrew Love, Duck Dunn, and Steve Cropper.
