Tommy James and the Shondells declined the once in a lifetime chance to play at Woodstock 1969 after their secretary called and said, “There’s this pig farmer in upstate New York that wants you to play in his field.”

Founded in 1950, Chance Records was a pivotal Chicago record label that specialized in the booming Jazz, Blues and Pop that was dominating the airwaves. John Lee Hooker recorded on Chance, as did Jimmy Reed. Eventually, Chance shuttered to make way for Vee-Jay Records.
