Official Monterey Pop Festival T-Shirt. Every sale benefits Monterey Pop. This t-shirt features the original Monterey Pop Festival concert poster from 1967.
Bluescentric Brand's Monterey Pop Festival t-shirt is available in premium lightweight 4.2oz vintage style sizes up to 4XL. Solid colors are 100% combed, ringspun cotton. Athletic Heather is 90% cotton. All other Heather colors are 52% cotton, 48% poly. Sizes run true. These t shirts are lighter and slightly more fitted compared to the Classic Gildan tees.
Monterey International Pop Music Festival, held in 1967, has a special place in American culture. Famed performances by Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, The Grateful Dead, The Butterfield Blues Band, Booker T and the MGs, and many others became household names from Monterey.
It was The Who's first U.S. performance, so Pete Townshend smashed his guitar in a famous finalé. It was also Jimi Hendrix's American debut. Not to be outdone by Townshend, Hendrix set fire to his guitar "as a sacrifice" at the end of his performance.
