The Piedmont Blues isa type of blues that was heavily influenced by ragtime, though it mostly incorporated a number of different sounds of Applachia and it's associated areas, like Virginia, the Carolinas, eastern Tennessee, etc. The Piedmont Blues was mmostly popular around these regions; Applachia and the Southeast United States, and still continues to be to some extent. It had it's heyday in the early twentieth century, seeing a decline around the end of World War II.
It's got an upbeat, dancable style, and is well known for it's musicians using a finger-picking style, where they use their fingers to pick multiple strings at the same time or very rapidly, unlike using a pick to pick one string at a time. Piedmont, like many other Blues styles, experienced a healthy revival and jump in popularity during the folk revival of the 1960s, which led many previously only regionally popular musicians to record and enjoy musical careers. Unfortunately, though the tunes are often catchy and dancable, the Piedmont Style today is experiencing a struggle in preservation and widespread popularity.
