Jimmie Vaughan
(Born March 20, 1951)

Jimmy Vaughan discovered Blues at an early age. He extensively listened to Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, and Albert King. As a child he learned to play guitar, and quickly formed a band with his younger brother, Stevie Ray. As he grew up engrossed in music, it didn't take him long to decide that he wanted to pursue a musical career, and by his mid teens he was following it with all of his heart. Jimmie had the cops to make it. He was an excellent vocalist, an avid student of the Blues and was an extremely talented guitar player. Around the 70s, Jimmie formed the cult legend Blues/rock group "The Fabulous Thunderbirds", and worked for years before gaining any widespread popularity, which still didn't result in a record contract for some time. Though on the musical scene, Jimmie had already quickly dug out a fan base and made a name for himself as having an electrifying, exciting, and energetic Blues/rock show. Jimmie has a unique appeal to all layers of Blues fans, from the casual listener to the hardcore. His energetic riffs and intense solos have continued to be inspiring artists and fans for years. Not surprisingly, this same statement has been made countless times about his brother, Stevie Ray, who cited Jimmie as is single biggest influence.

In August 1990, however, tragedy struck. After an electrifying performance in Alpine Valley, Wisconsin, with Jimmie, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, and Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan died in a terrible helicopter accident. Jimmie remained largely absent from music for some time after his brothers death. Finally, in 1994, he released the critically acclaimed Strange Pleasure, on which Jimmie's song "Six Strings Down" is dedicated to his brother's memory. He's made 9 records to date, and been playing for over 30 years. Just recently, Jimmie's mother passed away, to which we send our deepest condolences.
